5 hours Layover in Gatwick - What to do??

The morning we flew out of Salzburg, it was snowing, gorgeous powdery snow. It snowed so much and was so cold that they had to spray anti-freeze on the wings of the plane before it can take off. We kicked the day off with a cup of coffee and a croissant at Salzburg Airport. It is tiny and there isn't much to do.

We were heading for France via Gatwick. The only problem is we get in at 12pm and is not due to fly out until 5pm. As we all know, there is nothing worse than being stuck in an airport for more than 1 hour.
We did a bit of research online. We have 2 options, take the Gatwick Express to London - Victoria or head to the seaside - Brighton. After confirming with the information desk clerk that it was possible to make it back for our ongoing flight, we decided to go to Brighton in the UK for lunch. We got through immigration, took the shuttle rail from the North terminal to the train station on south terminal. From there, we bought return train tickets to Brighton. It arrived on the platform within minutes. So far so good.
We got to Brighton within 35 minutes and made our way straight down on the high street towards the water. It was blowing a cold blustery wind, but we are going to see the english seaside if it means rugging up with scarf and gloves.
We got to Brighton Pier. Tried some cockles which were sandy and gritty......... we decided on having some proper lunch...... can't go wrong with some good old fashion Fish n' chips. It was yummy.......

We made it back to Gatwick without a hitch and arrived safely in Issigeac for the next part of our journey........... Just in time for dinner in France. What else but Duck Confit, Roast potatoes in Duck Fat, Saucisson, Puy lentils and Bergerac red wine.

This is why I love Europe....... Breakfast in Austria, Lunch in England and Dinner in France..... and there is still time for a nightcap of cognac, coffee and petit four....... That's pretty amazing don't you agree?
